Whatever Returns
Its now been at least three years since I've posted on this blog. What has made me return? I was watching Julia and Julie. Its a movie about a young woman that cooks recipes from Julia Child's cook book for a year and blogs about it. I remember watching Julia Child on tv...yeah I'm that old...that was obviously before the Food Network...and probably had a lot to do with the fact that there really was little selection on tv. I am by no means a great cook...I don't particularly like cooking...and definitely not for myself...but I find that when I watch the Food Network...I feel inspired to cook...fortunately it passes pretty darn quickly. However watching the movie, I feel inspired to blog...and let's face it...its easier than cooking.

Its been a long time now...
I can't believe its been over a year since I've blogged...I've been busy...on Facebook. I enjoy Facebook because I am able to keep in touch with family and friends...even long lost friends.
What's happened in the last year...well not much really. I'm still working in the same place, living in the same place with the same two cats, and driving the same old car...only more rust and falling apart.
What has happened has been good and sad...good - Debbie and Sandy my cousins have added to the cousin with the birth or Sienna, Gabriel and Michael. Sad, has been the loss and I mean loss of a wonderful man, everyone's Uncle Manny (DeFreitas). Yeah, I don't think any of us were prepared for that loss. I can't believe I will not see him at a family gathering.
Good has been Drina my best friend becoming a home owner. Congrats!
Good has been my sister and the family finally taking a vacation in Portugal...unfortunately part of the reason, sad, is the passing of Alice Batista less than a year ago. She fought hard...but finally needed to rest. She is very much missed...I think of our last evening together by the fireplace at Dill & Carlos...like so many wonderful times I spent listening to this amazing and wise woman...
Yes there have been positive changes over the last year, and of course many sad occasions...I suspect we will have more as family and close friends age...as this world gets sicker by the day.
Whatever will be...will be.

Change of Season
The countdown to the end of summer is on...and its in the air. Nights are cooler, days are too and grow shorter in daylight.
Soon we will be putting away the sandals, the shorts, and all paraphernalia that is linked to the summer and the hot and humid weather that so many love. We are now pulling out the hoodies, the sweaters, the sweatpants and the socks...long banished into the back of the closet. We start to snuggle down onto our couch with a cup of hot chocolate and get ready for all the new shows and continuation of our favorites...Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, CSI, CSI Miami...(hey its my blog...so I'm naming MY favorite shows).
It was a wonderful summer...no shortage of hot weather or heat alerts. I enjoyed the pool at my building complex...now empty of its inviting cool water. There are less people outside hanging around...its grown quieter. As I sit at my computer, I can smell someones fireplace from one of the houses down the street...awwwwwww its almost fall, soon to be followed by winter.
I admit that winter is not my favorite season...but its a time of cuddling close to the ones you love...or in my case, my furry roommates. (In actual fact they do that in the hot and humid weather anyways...thank goodness for air conditioning).
There is soon to be a change of season!

How was your weekend? By Lizzie
So how was your weekend? Mama spent Friday with other family and not us...which didn't make us too happy. Then on Saturday Mama spent the whole day with us, but she had a migraine and slept for a lot of the day...so we did too. Then Sunday she spent some more time with us. Then yesterday she spent the whole day with Aunty Dill and cousins Alyssa, Faith and Sarah. But she brought Aunty Dill over and she pet us...she liked me ...she said so! (That's cause you were all over her! - Ellie) (Was not - Lizzie) (Was too!!!-Ellie)...Oh be quiet!!!-Mama
Mama says she was feeding little birdies out of her hand...she should have brought one home and I would have fed out of her hand too...(Bad bad Lizzie!! - mama)
For pictures you have to go to mama's "my space.com" cause it takes forever to load just one picture here...
So what did you do for the four day weekend?
Whatever!

Where have all the bloggers gone?
So where have all the bloggers gone? There once was a time when I could daily stay in touch with Nadia, Helder, Dill, Linda...but now I can only read what Chelsea or Jake or Jessie have written. Cute but where are my cousins? Ellie and Lizzie appreciate having the freedom to write in this blog...but it still is mine. (Truth be told...I write their blog..they simply dictate what they want said...its too hard for them to type with their paws...or so they tell me..hmm).
So I challenge you former bloggers: push past the cobwebs, flex those fingers, reenergize those brain cells and WRITE A BLOG FOR PETE'S SAKE!!
I dare ya!!
Whatever!
